Abstract
Conclusion
6-methyl-prednisolone is absorbed rapidly and in substantial amounts from the rectum in normal individuals and in patients with ulcerative colitis. Half of the 6-methyl-prednisolone absorbed from the rectum and excreted in the urine is eliminated within 6 hours. The beneficial action of 6-methyl-prednisolone retention enemas may be systemic as well as local.
