Summary
K. pneumoniae polysaccharide, injected intravenously, cures rats with leukemia due to Murphy-Sturm lymphosarcoma cells. Cortisol administration markedly inhibits the anti-leukemic effect of the bacterial polysaccharide. Resistance to tumor cells follows the polysaccharide-induced recovery from leukemia.
