Summary
Eight purine analogs were compared as to their effects on growth of Tetrahymena A certain degree of correlation was found between type of structural change present in the analog and ability of adenine, acetate, sterol or combinations of these compounds to reverse the inhibition. Analogs which cause “suicide” of cultures do not fit the pattern of other inhibitors.
