Summary
TMV-RNA inactivated by various means, in particular by reaction with propylene oxide, retains its ability to form virus-like rods with native TMV-protein. Such reconstituted inactive virus is serologically indistinguishable from the intact virus. The structural and potential practical implications of this observation are discussed.
