Abstract
Summary
Gastric secretory activity (volume and free HCl concentration) in the pylorus ligated rat is inhibited by bile duct ligation. This is not due to removal of bile from the intestine but appears to be due to increase in level of circulating bile constituents, particularly bile salts, resulting from obstruction to the outflow of bile from the liver.
