Abstract
Summary
Asian strains of influenza A virus were neither more nor less toxigenic than PR8 and FM1 strains as determined by cytotoxicity, neurotoxicity and xanthine oxidase inducing activity. Asian strains did exhibit greater neuraminidase activity than PR8 and FM1. There were no differences in any of the above properties between strains from mild and fatal human infections.
