Summary

Acute administration of 6 methyl prednisolone (Medrol^®) can markedly improve impaired water diuresis of adrenal and pituitary insufficiency. This effect is not dependent on altered renal hemodynamics or sodium reabsorption, and it suggests a specific action on the diluting segment of the nephron.
