This qualitative study examines the construction of masculinity in a group of adult male athletes. A baseball team was selected consisting of twelve, white, middle-class athletes ranging between the ages of 18 and 30 years. This article examines the way hegemonic masculinity affects the formation of friendships and groups within the team subculture.
