Abstract
This is a study of 250 young adults' perceptions of their father's parenting using a probability model. The sample was from an urban university and a rural university in the upper Midwest. The survey utilized Likert scales for a range of variables, including: physically present to physically absent, dangerous to safe, emotionally present to emotionally absent, etc. The survey also included open-ended questions for more qualitative information. Results showed that most young adults perceived their fathers as being a very positive force in their lives, although seven-25 percent perceived at least one major aspect of their father's behavior as negative.
