There has historically been a close affiliation between the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and the Royal College of Psychiatrists in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Many senior fellows spent part of their training in the UK and indeed are holders of the MRCPsych. This article aims to describe the current situation of psychiatric training in the United Kingdom as well as offer practical advice as to how to go about organising the experience.
