Abstract
A partial replication of Kounin’s correlational research findings with respect to the variable of teacher withitness is briefly described. Discrepancies between Kounin’s findings and those of the partial replication study are noted. Inconsistencies in the theoretical and methodological/operational definitions that Kounin proposes for the withitness variable are discussed as possible sources of these discrepancies. Suggestions are made for further investigation relative to the role of teacher withitness in classroom management.
