Abstract
Acoustic Rhinometry (AR) evaluates the geometry of the nasal cavity by means of acoustic reflections. Since it is a recently developed testing procedure, little is known about the various environmental factors that may affect measurements made with this technique. The acoustic signal generated from the source and received by the microphone(s) within the system are audible tones. The system is currently operated in ordinary office settings. Therefore, other noise present in the testing environment may interfere with test measurements. This study evaluates the effects of different sources of environmental noise on Acoustic Rhinometry measurements.
