Trigeminal Traumatic Neuroma,A Previously Unreported Complication of Sinus Surgery: Nerve Exposure and Traumatic Neuroma of V2 Secondary to Maxillary Antrostomy
Sharp lancinating pain on inhalation as one type of atypical facial pain may be indicative of nerve exposure to the nasal airstream. A case is reported demonstrating iatrogenic nerve exposure of V2 which occurred as a complication of antrostomy. Development of a traumatic neuroma followed with gradual worsening of the pain. A method of management that was adequate in controlling the pain is described. Anatomic and surgical implications are discussed.
