An osteotomy drainage system has been developed that decreases the edema and ecchymosis associated with lateral osteotomy during rhinoplasty. A prospective randomized trial has indicated a statistically significant improvement in terms of periorbital edema and ecchymosis postrhinoplasty in patients in whom the osteotomy drainage tube is used. It is simple in design, cost effective, and easily inserted at the time of surgery.
