Abstract
The vascular bed of the nasal mucosa is especially important for the function of the nose. The symptoms that characterize the common cold and allergic rhinitis result from inflammation in the nasal mucosa and are likely to be associated with disturbances in the vascular bed. It is consequently worthwhile to investigate the function of the blood vessels in the nasal mucosa. With more rational methods for these studies, it is possible to get detailed knowledge of the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of nasal disorders and to develop improved methods of managing the diseases.
