Abstract
The present investigation examined the concurrent validity of the Relationship with Father Inventory, by administering this inventory and the Parental Bonding Instrument in counterbalanced order to 846 adults. As expected, mean scores across measures were similar to previously published data for adults; however, women reported more paternal protection during childhood and less coalition and emotional attachment to father in adulthood than men. Scores on Relationship with Father Inventory's Emotional Attachment and Coalition with Father scales correlated significantly with scores on the Care and Protection scales of the Parental Bonding Instrument.
