25 percent of 2,124 patients, treated for their injuries due to either suicide attempts or automutilation, had consumed alcohol before inflicting themselves with injury. Across the life-span prevalence of males was observed for all age-groups. The highest risk group was located in the age-range between 20 and 29 years.
