Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the educational concerns of Korean-American parents in selected cities in California. Of the 363 participants 47% indicated concerns on a questionnaire about their lack of knowledge or understanding of the American educational system and the curricula. Another concern was their lack of time to help their children with school work. 28% of the respondents were concerned about their children's limited proficiency in Korean, 23% about lack of respect for their parents (elders), and 23% about rebellious behaviors. 14% expressed concern about their children's low academic achievement, 15% expressed concern about financing their children's educations, and 1.3% suspected that their children might be using drugs or alcohol.
