Abstract
In a previous study a relationship was indicated between humor and intimacy; however, the Situational Humor Response Questionnaire, a narrow measure of humor, was given. In this study for 20 male and 40 female undergraduates high scores on intimacy were associated with high scores on the Multidimensional Sense of Humor Scale, a broad and comprehensive measure, although the relationship was not as strong as that between scores on intimacy and on the Situational Humor Response Questionnaire. This discrepancy might be explained by the social nature of intimacy and differences in the two measures of humor.
