Through discriminant analysis, the 16 PF correctly classified 79% of appropriate (n = 54) and inappropriate (n = 43) volunteers for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters agency. Inappropriate volunteers were portrayed as rigid, anxious, apprehensive, and lacking judgment. Self-assurance, flexibility, intelligence, and perseverance were characteristics associated with appropriate volunteers.
