Two studies of self-actualization using the Personal Orientation Inventory pre- and posttest yield different results because the designs, goals, and methods of analysis were very different as detailed comparison shows. Of particular interest is the lack of analysis of pseudoactualization scores in the 1990 work by Duncan, Konefal, and Spechler.
