Parents' observations of their adolescent at two points (75 at 3 days and 24 at 28 days) during recovery from hospitalization for an acute condition were made. Whereas the majority of comments described changes in mood and negative behavior during this process, examples of positive coping and adaptive behavior by adolescents following discharge were provided.
