Four general approaches to the transformation problem in exploratory factor analysis are reviewed, with primary attention given to xerxes (hyperplanefitting) methods. The Kaiser-Cerny (KC) Rule for dichotomizing row-normalized normal varimax loadings, for a given factor, into near-zero and non-near-zero elements is described at some length. The Method Horst-Hilsch (HH) xerxes procedure is explored in detail. Some numerical examples and concluding remarks are appended.
