Abstract
This study examined the relationship between Kirton Adaption-Innovation Inventory total scores and self-estimates of the inventory scores to assess how accurately individuals can predict their adaptor or innovator status. Analysis indicated that 42 of 66 students (26 men, 40 women) classified themselves correctly as either adaptors or innovators, which was significant as were the Pearson correlations between actual and self-estimates of total scores (.52) and also actual scores and self-ratings on a five-point scale (.54). These data indicate many individuals can recognize the adaptive-innovative continuum with reasonable accuracy.
