Two dental procedures, use of a dental drill and finishing a prepared cavity with sharp hand tools, were performed by all 56 first-year dental students and graded by 3 experienced faculty according to standard criteria. Intraexaminer reliabilities ranged from 94 to 100%. Interexaminer differences in grading were nonsignificant. Despite students' concern, scoring was accurate and consistent within and between examiners.
