Abstract
This is a review of the evidence regarding the value of psychotherapists' personal psychotherapy for the practice of psychotherapy. No study up to this time has been able to isolate successfully the effects on practice of personal psychotherapy. The complexity of the issue may prevent such a solution. As a result no definitive conclusion as to value can be reached; however, the existing evidence suggests probable merit of selective inclusion of personal psychotherapy for the training of psychotherapists.
