Abstract
A myth that violence can enhance subsequent sexual engorgement has been promoted by writers who accept hypotheses which by their own calculations are shown to be unreasonable, who design for yet do not publish initial or basal data or establish any legitimate reference level. Since preference is measured by a difference in behavior in two situations, it can be referred to either situation. Referred to the only situation which can be used by the reader as a reference for all published effects, engorgements indicate consistent simple effects of several movies, mostly within their first 40 sec., no consistent gender differences, but no sequential effects on movies which are shown immediately following.
