Abstract
Given two independent normally distributed random variables, with different means and standard deviations, a formula for the probability of an observation from the first distribution being greater than an observation from the second distribution is presented. An example is provided, and an informal experiment, concerned with subjective probability, is described. The results of this experiment have an interesting interpretation in studying individual differences.
