The financial services sector is undergoing rapid change, and as a result it is becoming a riskier market. The High Street banker in particular is facing challenges from existing and new competitors. Data on Kirton's measure of adaptiveness and innovativeness indicate that established branch managers may not cope too readily with such changes.
