The distinctiveness of encoding paradigm which was recently developed in the levels of processing perspective has been successfully employed with prose/textual materials. An experiment was conducted to ascertain the most viable form of distinctiveness in learning words and to ascertain relative effectiveness in both short (immediately after testing) and longer term (1 mo. later) recall.
