A middle-aged man volunteered to be interviewed about his 14 years of methaqualone abuse. He characterized methaqualone as more satisfying in the euphoric and hypnotic properties then either barbiturates or triazolam (a benzodiazepine) with less severe side effects and shorter withdrawal reaction, limited only to a few days.
