This study investigated the standard MMPI validity scales alone and in combination, i.e., F—K, L+K, in discriminating subjects who deny faking good from those who report faking good. The design of the study was unique in that determination of faking was made after the test was administered. The validity scales and the F—K index in particular do not differentiate effectively between subjects who dissimulate and others. These results are interpreted in light of previous research.
