Kohlberg's story “Heinz and the drug” was used. 78 Chinese and 213 English subjects were asked to what extent would they steal the drug for a person bearing the following relationship with them: husband and wife, father/mother and son, best friend, and stranger. Responses from both samples showed that a person is more altruistic towards people who are more closely related.
