The Rational Behavior Inventory pre- and posttreatment was administered to 62 male veteran alcoholic patients in a comprehensive medical-psychoeducational treatment program. Statistically significant increases in patients' rational thinking were noted on six of the 11 factors. Tentative support for the utility of Rational Emotive Therapy as a treatment intervention for alcoholic patients was noted. The Rational Behavior Inventory is a sensitive psychometric indicator of changes in alcoholic patients' rational beliefs.
