Analysis of the records documented in a Medical Examiner's Office for a sample of 455 youthful suicide committers suggests that committers may not be similar to populations from which suicide attempters are drawn. The results do not confirm some recent findings reported on lethality of suicide method chosen by attempters and suicide intent and raise a question about the reliability of generalizing the findings based on attempters vs committers.
