Intention to join a nursing union was investigated among 102 advanced undergraduate BSN students. Instrumentality × Valence, the instrumentality of intrinsic outcomes, and the valence of extrinsic outcomes were each positively and significantly related to intentions to join a union. Internal-external locus of control beliefs were unrelated to joining intentions. Pro-strike attitudes were also related to intentions to join a nursing union. Implications of these findings were discussed.
