Independent multiple regression equations for predicting susceptibility to either alcohol or opiates were double cross-validated. Criterion correlations were also significant when applied in field use with independent samples having established histories. Either equation, however, predicted either substance equally well, and the scores loaded on the same factor. A combined generalized equation proved valid for both substances.
