Abstract
55 self-identified bingers and purgers from the general population completed a questionnaire in response to a booklet about bulimia. Analysis indicates that these behaviors are often associated with stress, anxiety, and depression. Most respondents (all women) reported physical side effects such as tooth decay or sore throats, and difficulty in reducing the behaviors without professional help. This survey replicates previous findings about the binge-purge eating disorder with a noncollege campus female population.
