Abstract
Scores from a 10-item measure of Fiedler's leadership style variables, together with the Least Preferred Co-worker and Most Preferred Coworker summed scores and Assumed Similarity of Opposites profile difference measure were obtained from 272 subjects involved in leadership training courses. These were factor analyzed to determine the similarity or dissimilarity of the three measures. The first two measures are factorially distinct, though reflecting positive and negative aspects of two underlying concepts. Assumed Similarity of Opposites scores are slightly more complex factorially but are not sufficiently so to justify their use as alternative or as additional measures to the Least Preferred Co-workers.
