This study compared the relationship between need for achievement and need for affiliation within the area of concentration chosen by music students. 172 students, both undergraduate and graduate, and faculty participated. The NachNaff scale, a 30-item forced-choice questionnaire was given. Analysis produced no significant differences in sex, status, or program, i.e., therapy, education, or performance, but significant difference was found between the means of the undergraduates and faculty.
