A thematic apperception procedure and an accompanying questionnaire are utilized to develop and validate the construct of psychological involvement. A significant relationship appears between involvement and over-all worrying, marital worries and problems, work problems, and power motivation; rs range from .18 to .37. The index effectively distinguishes individuals who are highly invested in life from those who are less involved.
