The existence of a domain of social intelligence, separate from general intelligence, has recently been questioned. This study presents evidence suggesting that methodological variables associated with the type of instrument utilized to measure social intelligence may be critical to the identification of this construct. Results support the existence of an independent factor of social intelligence.
