This study compared the ability of readers to recall references when two different styles, Turabian and American Psychological Association, were both presented to subjects in a counterbalanced design. Also an attitude scale was administered to determine readers' preferences for the two styles. The results showed no significant differences either in recall or preference due to the sequence of styles. Implications regarding the cost of typing manuscripts are offered.
