Abstract
By letting 803 secondary school students state three wishes each, classified according to the criteria determined by Jersild, et al. (1932) and Wilson (1938), we noted that avocation was a more frequently quoted category in Senegal than in other Western countries. Altruistic wishes more frequent in Senegal were more often given by boys than girls. Finally, the influence of age on the percentage of wishes expressed by the Senegalese adolescents after Wilson's classification suggests some similarity with the variations observed by Wheeler in 1963 for Australian subjects.
