Abstract
To describe the areas of dissatisfaction and various wishes of secondary school students in Senegal we asked some 1090 of them to tell us what they liked or hated most in life. Answers to both inquiries were gathered round a few chosen themes. What Senegalese students liked most were leisures and pastimes (24.3%), then certain moral and social values (19.5%), such as communal life, love between men, peace and calm. They generally wish to have a job later (16.5%). Students hated most certain immoral attitudes such as lying, theft, social injustice, discord, delinquency, parasitism, etc. (57.5%) as well as unemployment in the future (9%). The influences of sex, housing, socio-economic status of fathers, and age were discussed.
