Abstract
For each of 74 high school counselors, 6 student clients completed the Survey of Interpersonal Values. The counselors then completed the survey as they believed that each of their six clients had. Perceptual accuracy scores, based on the D statistic, obtained for each counselor were then correlated with their students' value scores. Counselors perceived more accurately value profiles of students who scored low on Conformity and Benevolence and high on Support and Independence. Combinations of these characteristics are associated with the succorant personality as well as with the student who has not internalized the traditional school norm.
