The Conflict Resolution Inventory which measures the ability to refuse unreasonable requests was administered to 67 male and 92 female undergraduates and the results were factor analyzed. The resulting 12 factors which accounted for 66% of the total variance suggest that assertion is situation-specific even within one response class.
