Abstract
A relatively small amount of research has been completed on the family-group variable of birth order and the vocational-group variable of choices in the world of work. Furthermore, extremely little research has been completed utilizing the socio-psychological perspective of family constellation and birth order. A sample of 282 dentists was interviewed regarding socio-psychological birth order and related information. Relationships were found for the psychological perspectives of ordinal and socio-psychological birth order, family size, closest sibling, and changing birth-rate trends. A possible unifying theme which relates this study to other investigations of vocational choice was discussed.
