Abstract
This study attempted to replicate several earlier findings concerning the relationships of Rorschach card rejection to intelligence, defensiveness, and sex. The subjects were 27 males and 48 females who were inpatients at an acute treatment, psychiatric hospital, and who had been tested with the Rorschach, MMPI, and WAIS. The measures of defensiveness were the Q and K scales of the MMPI and F% from the Rorschach. The subjects were divided into rejecting and non-rejecting groups, and t tests were computed for IQ, K, and F%, and chi-squared tests were computed for Q and sex. Analysis of variance was computed for IQs as a function of amount of card rejection. IQ was inversely related to card rejection. Sex, Q, K, and F% were not related to card rejection.
