Abstract
Responses to a Swedish version of EPPS by alcoholic and neurotic male patients were analyzed in a two-way, multivariate analysis of variance. On the whole, no statistically significant differences were found between alcoholics and neurotics or between alcoholics with long and alcoholics with short duration of heavy drinking while holding age constant. Thus, neither the hypothesis of a typical alcoholic personality different from that of neurotic patients nor the hypothesis that prolonged heavy drinking is associated with personality changes was supported.
